Fronts keep coming...Stormy Friday?

All the long range computer models continue to show a redeveloping east coast trough that results in cold front after cold front plunging southward out of Canada down to the Gulf coast. As I mentioned before, if this pattern lasts into December & January, we are likely to see a hard freeze( under 20 degrees) in SE Louisiana. Who knows, maybe this is the year for a great Christmas snow?!!! In the short term, our brief coold down tonight will be followed by a warm up back into the 70s by Thanksgiving Day. Low pressure is expected to develop over the western Gulf on Friday bringing another cold front and the possibility for severe weather with it. This front could stall allowing some rain to linger into the weekend breaking our streak of dry weekends at 9. Will update as we get closer.

Bob, is there ANY relation between the snow in winter and then a hurricane hit the following summer?! Seems like we had both with Georges and Katrina if I'm not mistaken...

I don't think so Wayne. Remember it snowed in 1989 right around Christmas, yet 1990 didn't have any storm affect us. Andrew was in 1992. I wish it were that easy to link winter snow & summer storms.

I too have often wondered if there was any relationship with those two events..being that it was 15 years between snowfalls...maybe it just happened to be day it fell that makes it seem so coincidental.

I wish there were some relationship...because is snows here so seldom...if only that could be said about tropical storms.
