Post Surgery...Day 3

So far there have been no surprises regarding my recent rotator cuff surgery. I had a wonderful surgery team led by Dr. Buddy Savoie of Tulane who told me the post surgery pain would be "worst than childbirth." On day one I felt no pain since Dr. Savoie inserted a pain block into the nerves in my shoulder. That changed on day 2 as I was "miserable" most of the night and day. I was popping the pain pills (felt like House on FOX 8) and just trying to stay comfortable. My mood was "nasty" and thank goodness I had a very patient wife who endured this time period. Today I've come from "miserable" to "awful", but it is much improved from yesterday. Was able to take off the bandages and get a sponge bath and shampoo. That in itself made me feel better. I visit Dr. Savoie on Thursday and look forward to starting the therapy that will restore my arm strength. Right now, the time table for returning to FOX 8 is Monday Jan. 5th 2009.

Looking ahead...this week will be a warm one with highs 75-80 and several rainy periods. Another strong cold front will arrive next weekend, but it won't be as cold as this last one. 10 days out, it looks like we'll see NO snow for Christmas

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I promise, each day gets better. I had 2 knee replacements in my late 30's. I thought I would die in therapy, but I made it through. You can too little guy!! God Bless you and your family and I will keep you in my prayers.
