Tropics are Sleeping...

In reading some bloggers today, I'm almost amused by their frustration regarding the lack of any tropical activity so far. Satellite views of the Atlantic tonight show no waves coming off of Africa and the only area of disorganized T-Storms off the coast east of Florida is not likely to develop since strong wind shear is over it. So our attention turns to yet another cold front coming into south Louisiana. It isn't as strong as last weekend's front, but our VIPIR computer model says it will sag offshore during the day on Thursday taking any showers with it. Friday also looks mostly dry before rain chances increase some for Saturday & Sunday. It should be a great weekend for the Tarpon Rodeo down on Grand Isle. Keep those tropics quiet !

Can VIPIR get me the Power Ball numbers to play this weekend?

Caveman thinks the tropics are planning a big sneek attack in late August. Start sand bagging....

I can't believe people are frustrated that there hasn't been any tropical systems...I am quite releaved that there haven't been any.

Does this mean more people are going to stay if a major storm comes our way?? Does anyone really want to go thru what we did with Katrina?? Four years later and this storm still cannot go a news cast without the mentioning of her name...

I hope the fish are biting and the weather holds up down in Grand Isle this weekend.

Someone get Caveman a few fortune cookies...

Regarding the frustration at a lack of tropical activity...do these same people get upset when there is no tornado in the Midwest, or wildfire in California?

Sure, Katrina made for some compelling viewing, as long as you weren't from the affected areas.

Be careful what you say cheryl. Saying the big one can't happen is irresponsible. Especially since we are becoming more vulnerable each day. It only takes 1, the total number of storms does not mean a thing. It's Hurricane Season and everyone that lives near the coastline need's to be prepared, just in case that 1 Hurricane does hit.
