Tropics About to go Nuts?

Geez, we've been so quiet for so long, you just know that couldn't continue. Today's long range (10-14 days) computer models show not one, not two, but 3 systems that could soon become named storms. In addition, another unusual "cold" front will push into the Gulf on Thursday and that will give us another area to watch for development. Whew! Why all the action all of a sudden? Could be the MJO...The Madden-Jullian Oscillation which deals with the upper wind flow high up over the tropics. Last week the "active" phase was over the Pacific (Hurricane Felicia) and this week it is shifting over the Atlantic Basin. Be prepared to see Ana, Bill & Claudette in short order. Don't get overly concerned since 1) nothing has formed yet and 2) when they do, they will be over 3,000+ miles away...plenty of time to go somewhere else. The next 6-8 weeks will be our time to stay alert. Would love to see some strong early season cold fronts arrive in late September sweeping away any tropical threats. Stay tuned Gang. The heart of the season has arrived.

Ana, Bill & Claudette can take their party elsewhere!

We need to pay attention to TD2 and The Wave Behind it because they could be Threats down the road, however, they are 4000+ Miles away and its way too early to speculate where they end up.

What we need to watch is the Gulf of Mexico this weekend for Tropical Mischief. As a Frontal Boundary interacts with a Tropical Wave, and they're is growing model support for this scenario to occur.
