Gravest Threat...ever !

Since my last blog covers the coming front on Friday, I thought I'd share an e-mail I received today. Perhaps you'll understand why I call it "The Global Warming Agenda".

From the Hastings Group (a PR Firm)...bold headlines..."GRAVEST THREAT EVER TO U.S. PARKS FROM GLOBAL WARMING". They list all the usual alarmist's claims that, IF they did happen, would destroy all of our national parks. They claim..."that is why clean energy legislation (translation higher taxes) must pass Congress". Way down towards the bottom of the e-mail was the true agenda of the e-mail. ..."more funding for research is needed..." Ah-HA, the inconvenient truth...more money, more control. It's not about reducing carbon emissions. Cap & Trade didn't do that in Germany or Britain. All it will do here is make the traders more MONEY . I'm all for cleaner energy, but do it for the right reasons. CO2 is NOT the driver of climate change. Man cannot control Mother Nature. My question tonight is this...Why do the alarmists need a PR firm (paid by whom?) to promote their cause? Isn't the media/press/scientific journals the proper channels to educate us. Sure there are lobbyists on both sides, but a PR firm? Could it be they are losing support in the arena of public opinion? Yep, it bother me. How about you?

This doesn't address your question directly, but your comment brings to mind John McFee's classic book 'Control of Nature' documenting the Army Corps of Engineers' actions on the Mississippi River and its consequences. Erosion of wetlands of course comes to mind as well as another of countless examples of humans directly affecting the natural world. I have respected your insights for years, especially during hurricane season. You are a major voice for science in the region, but I've noticed your stance on climate change often seems more dismissive, instead of encouraging a more open discussion about such a complicated and important issue to us here as ecology. I do agree with you, by the way, that cap and trade is a misplaced solution that will only line the wrong pockets, but it's important to note I'm hardly alone in that stance among people who are truly concerned about climate change.

I'M NOT A GENIUS OR A SCHOLAR, BUT I KNOW THAT WHEN YOU REMOVE MASS FROM A ROTATING SPHERE, IT TENDS TO REDISTRIBUTE PRESSURE AND THE WEAKEST POINTS TEND TO GIVE. I HEAR LITTLE ROCK IS NICE THIS TIME OF YEAR.

Ok climate change happened when there was no people on earth. The earth was a big ice ball at one time it has been a big fire ball at one time, climate change will happen with us and with out us.Erosion started when the tides started moving a billion years ago,u may be able to slow it but it not stop. The earth has been changing from day one and the people that think we can stop or change the way the earth works are nuts, and he ones that are asking for money for this are not the right people for the job. All the clean power and other things are good but it dose not take 25 years of testing and 100 trillion to see what will work and why, if u want to go to wind mill power or solar power it cost so much why?Money and greed drive this world it makes me sick

Hey Bourbon,

I was surprised by how quickly the dry air moved in and out. I was hoping it would stay by for at least another 6 hours for the St. Mary Magdalen Fair but it didn't. Looking into next week we will be muggy and hot with the best chance of rain for the 1st half of the week. (Now the exciting part)The Euro has consistently showing a Fall Arctic Cold Front diving through the central and eastern Lower 48 for next weekend. Even the GFS is slowly jumping into this bandwagon. If this happens we may not even get above the mid-60's for highs in SE LA! This isn't written in stone yet but it is definitely something to keep an eye on as the week goes on.
