Cold Man Winter...He Keeps on Rolling...

As previously mentioned, the great Canadian Highway of Cold Air is open for business and heading into the lower 48. The first surge of coolness is arriving tonight and we'll see several waves of cold air coming during the next 7-10 days. It also appears we'll see several "Gulf Disturbances" that'll bring us episodes of cold air here with some frozen precip. not too far to our north. Next week could get exciting if the timing of the moisture and cold air gets just right. My thinking is Wednesday into Thursday could be our opportunity to see some white stuff close to us. Stay tuned !

In the short term, Friday's highs will stay in the 40s, might top 50 on Saturday with less wind and could approach 60 on Sunday. Not a bad weekend...as long as you are dressed for it!

Not sure if anyone's seen the GFS long range models today (6z and 12z) but they are both consistently indicating a possible winter storm in deep south LA starting around Tues Feb 1. I know it's a little early to get excited but still... :) i would think a winter storm for us would be up to an inch of snow... so I guess this is potential for MAJOR storm with up to 6 inches in some parts?

For those of us who are not familiar of where to find GFS model information can you give us a website to follow?

Lately, I've been using www.twisterdata.com and going to the GFS tab. It runs four times a day and goes 17 days in the future. (I wouldn't put a whole lot of faith past 84 hours or so...)
