Mild This Week...Colder Next Week...

January is, historically, our coldest month of the year, but it'll be hard pressed to top December 2010 which ended as our 8th coldest since records began in 1946 at MSY. This week will be much milder than last week, but computer models 7-10 days from now bring another cold blast to the Gulf South. Last week's freeze nipped some of my garden flowers, but most still look pretty good this week. We'll see a weak Gulf wave move to our south by Tuesday night and Wednesday bringing a few showers followed by slightly cooler and drier air for Thursday and Friday. Another stronger system approaches late Saturday into Sunday that could bring a round of severe storms to parts of our viewing area. Stayed tuned.

http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/gfs/3/maps/2011/01/03/12/GFS_3_2011010312_F300_SNOWIN_SURFACE.png shows southern Louisiana blanketed in snow by the end of next week. Just a model, but I'd like to hear your opinion.
