Arlene Forms...Not our Problem

As I indicated last night, our 1st storm of the season would be named down over the extreme southern Gulf. Since we have generally a northerly flow rotating around a large upper ridge over Texas, Arlene can't come to the north. She'll turn to the west and head into Mexico making landfall on Thursday well south of Brownsville. It continues a pattern started last year where storms either went well to our south or turned to the north east of Florida. So storm #1 will not be our problem. Only 15-17 more to go!

In the short term, Our best hope for daily showers comes from upper disturbances rotating around the upper high over Texas. Arlene is the ONLY named storm WORLDWIDE right now. There is nothing else brewing in the tropics.
