Tropics Still Quiet...

We have reached the 1st week in July with no signs of any tropical development for the next 7-10 days. That is usually the case as it's not until after August 15th that we see a dramatic increase in tropical activity. So let's just enjoy the quiet now and hope it continues for as long as possible.

We have been following a broad upper low down in the Gulf south of Louisiana. It has drifted back to the east tonight and if that pattern continues, we would be on the "drier" side of it tomorrow. A surge of tropical moisture has moved over south Florida but it appears that moisture will stay to our east. NHC gives this broad area of disturbed weather over Cuba/Florida/Bahamas a "10%" chance for development. What does that mean? Same as 10% chance for rain. Translation...not gonna happen, but I want to CMA !

I would strongly caution against the use of those words 'not gonna happen'.
