NHC recon found a closed circulation and sfc winds of 40 mph this afternoon so our 4th storm (Don) was named. Don will be moving over warm Gulf waters(80-85 degrees) and into an area of low wind shear so he should slowly strengthen as he heads towards the Central Texas coast. All computer models take the storm into Texas and we should be far enough away to see little impact from Don. In fact, if he gets a little stronger on Thursday, he could draw much of the moisture over us down to him resulting in more sunshine here with fewer showers. Don will bring some much needed rains to drought stricken Texas so he will not be a dud for them, rather a welcome change to mamy months of no rain. Today was our 6th straight day of above normal clouds and showers with more street flooding and even several waterspouts. That pattern will change into a hot and mostly dry weekend.
I'll be on Grand Isle at the Tarpon Rodeo and may not have internet access for the next 2-3 days. Obviously, if Don changed course for LA. I'll be on-air here in New Orleans. If Don stays on course for Texas, I'll be live from Grand Isle on FOX 8 News at 5 PM Thursday.

Seems like we have had a pretty cool July...cool considering we are in the south. Bob could you show a graphic on you news showing the high temps for July to see how we fared so far this month.
I enjoy the rain, beats the heat, keeps the house cooler, the A/C doesnt have to work as hard and keep the utility bill down...we'll a little...
Don sure didnt look that inpressive but yes Texas could use the rain...

I'm enjoying the rain and cooler temps too. I hear everyone talking about how much they hate the weather and want the heat back... I would much prefer the rest of summer stays like this.

THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THE RAIN IS THE COOLS TEMPS
Went to a local restaurant tonight and they had the weather channel, just seems like they were blowing this TS out of proportion.
They were making it out to be a major storm....all the while saying it didnt produce the amount of rain they thought and at 7:15 announcing this storm was done....
