"Extreme Heat"? C'mon it's August!

Yep, I get back from a trip out West and all channels are going crazy about the NWS HEAT ADVISORY calling for "dangerous" heat.   It's like no one remembers the past.  July 2011 was the 7th hottest on record with July 2012 not even getting into the top ten!  This summer is MUCH LESS hot than last summer yet the headlines scream like it's never happened before.  In fact, 2 of the3 hottest July's were 1980 & 1981, over 30+ years ago...but few remember.  Who is controlling the media agenda?  NOAA?  NWS?  They must certainly feel the current generation is not as smart as those 30 years ago and they must warn them like never before?  What you say?

After no storms in July, August looks like the tropics are heating up.  There's a definite swirl out in the Atlantic east of Barbados, but it's at a very low latitude.  It could become Ernesto later this week, but I don't think it'll survive the wind shear in the Caribbean.  Stay tuned!
