Heat Winning Out For Now...

The tropical wave that moved over south Florida yesterday entered the NE Gulf today with a well defined circulation.  However, the upper high that has brought extreme heat & drought to the corn belt is settling a little farther to the south this week.  That will block any tropical moisture from reaching us for the next 2-3 days.  We'll have to wait until the high retreats later in the week to see rainfall return bringing us a break from the heat.  Expect highs 94-98 Tuesday into Friday with only an isolated storm or two.

The tropics still show no signs of life.  Drs. Gray & Klotzbloch come out with their updated hurricane forecast on August 3rd. Stay tuned!

Hi Bob, will it be safe to go on a cruise in the Gulf the first week of August?

I don't worry about being on a MOVING ship. If a storm is coming, the ship will go where the storm won't. If you were going to Jamaica, Caymans, Virgin Islands etc., I'd be worried during August. Enjoy your cruise!
