Several weeks ago I mentioned there would be an avalanche of Global Warming articles in the media. Today I received 2 such articles, one regarding 2012 as the hottest ever and the other about lowest Arctic sea ice coverage. As you know I have stated many times that I have lived thru climate change during the last 65 short years. These guys want you to believe the current warming CYCLE has NEVER happened before but will continue on FOREVER. I believe that ocean currents, solar cycles & the Earth's orbit drive our climate. They want you to believe that CO2 is the driver of our climate. Who are "these guys"? One is Climatenexus who describe themselves as "...a passionate group of strategic thinkers, innovative communicators & creative minds changing the climate & energy conversation in the U.S." The other is Climate Central "...a non-profit research & journalism organization providing authoritative information to help the public & policymakers make sound decisions about climate & energy." If you don't believe or disagree with their "facts", then you must be a skeptic, denier or worse...an infidel! Doesn't matter that you have "facts" on your side, their "facts" are all that matter.
Anthropologist Clifford Geertz once wrote "...a system of symbols which acts to establish powerful, pervasive & long lasting moods and motivations in men by formulating conceptions of a general order of existence & clothing these conceptions with such an aura of factuality that the moods & motivations seem uniquely realistic." Mr. Geertz was defining RELIGION.
What we have is a group of scientists who truly believe man is destroying the Planet and the only way to save it is to reduce the standard of living of all of us. There are many of us who believe the climate system is so complex that computer models can not foretell the future, rather a study of past climates serve as a more reliable guide to the future. We would better serve all of mankind by keeping energy costs down helping the poorest of nations including many in the U.S. who live paycheck to paycheck. What say you?

OK, so I am watching the Gulf for the beginning of next week. The Euro model and GFS are now in agreement that something will develop early part of the week in the Gulf. Please tell me I am wrong, I can't go through this again. (Not saying if it does develop it will come to LA again...but just saying.)
Richard...VIPIR is trying to develop a low in the central Gulf by midday on Sunday, but another front is coming that should arrive late Tuesday. IF something did develop, it would most likely get carried to our east towards the FL. Panhandle...or it could just be drawn farther down into the Gulf and head way west. You know me...I don't worry when nothing is there yet.
