Changing Pattern for Lower 48...

For most of December the lower 48 states have been warmer than normal/average and mostly snow free.  Usual snowy cities like Buffalo, Chicago & Syracuse have had very little, if any of the white stuff.  But that's about to change as the track of storms streaking across the nation keep dipping farther to the south bringing much needed moisture to many of the drought regions of the central plains.  Hey, they don't care if it's snow or rain, they just want moisture!  One blizzard is moving over the Midwest tonight with another one on the way for the day after Christmas.  That storm will bring down Arctic air all the way down to the Gulf South with freezing temps. for us that last week of the year.   You want cold weather?   Stay tuned!

In the short term, a strong cold front will bring us some showers for morning drive followed by increasing NW winds that will bring in much colder air for Thursday PM into Saturday.  Night time lows will be freezing or below N-Shore with 30s S-Shore.  A wind advisory NW 25-30,gusts 40+) has been issued for Thursday into Friday.
