No White, Possible Fright for Christmas...

As many of you know I take a 10 day break from weather over the Christmas Holidays...however, the reports from NWS & SPC all indicate Tuesday will see a severe weather outbreak SOMEWHERE across the Deep South.  It appears to me the morning threat will be along a warm front lifting northward in the 6 AM to 11 AM time frame.  As the front pulls to our north, we could actually break out into some sunshine allowing temps to approach 80 degrees. ( I know it's Christmas!)   By late afternoon (4-7 PM) a strong cold front will approach with a likely squall line.  That will probably be our main threat for severe storms.  Much colder air follows for Wednesday with highs struggling to get above 50 with brisk north winds.  Yet another storm system heads our way by late Friday into Saturday with another round of possible severe storms.  Looking into January, with the sub zero temps now invading the lower 48 plus the expanding snow cover with each of these storms, I feel that a "significant" freeze is likely here (Jan. 5-20) with teens on the North Shore and mid 20s South Shore.   This will not be like last year's non-winter.  Stay tuned!
