Dodged the Rain Bullet...

Wow, it was truly an ugly day, but it could have been far worse.  3 day rain totals west and north of New Orleans exceeded 10-12" while the South Shore & MS. Coast had 1-3" at most.  River flooding will continue on the Northshore but we have at least 2 days of dry weather before the rains return Sunday PM.  temps will stay warm (70s) until several cold fronts arrive next week.  There are signs that some real cold (freezing N-Shore) will return for late in the week.  In fact, much of the nation will get in on the Winter chill with several snowstorms likely.  (not here!)  Stay tuned!

im seeing the models are starting to think a pretty significant ice storn could hit the ARK-LA-MISS area monday night through tuesday... by looking at the latest info/long range patterns, etc... what is your gut telling you about our chances for some wintry precip before spring time gets here, Bob?

so i think the NAM model nailed it this time... the 18z NAM puts air to support sleet/snow here wednesday midnight through thursday lunch time... hmmm... interesting - - looks like a Dec 11, 2008 set up may happen to somebody around here possibly?! Last time we got 6" of snow on that day in Albany when something like this happened... I wonder who's gonna get it this time??
