Life is a Journey...

In my YOUTH, I came from a family that never had much except closeness & love. Mom & Dad worked hard but never got paid much.  We always had a roof over our heads and food on the table.  After college, it was the baby years where I always had a job, but raising & educating kids gets very expensive. Those MIDDLE AGE years were very special watching my children grow into young adults.  Now I've reached the GOLDEN YEARS, a time when money should be no issue and where you have nothing to do and all day to do it.  A time where hobbies become your "job".  It's called the journey of life but for many life is not fair. Some earn more money, others suffer hardships(loss of a job or a soulmate) while others have their bodies fail.  It's only when you get "old" that you understand that YOUTH is wasted on the YOUNG.

On Monday I start a new journey...Radiation treatments(43) for prostate cancer.  My doctors believe it was discovered in the initial stages and hasn't spread.  Since I have long family history, I have been getting tested every year once I reached 50.  I have no symptoms so the only way the cancer was discovered is thru my PSA blood tests.  FOX 8 will be doing a story regarding the PSA testing, what the number means, who should get tested and what happens if you don't get treated.  Please be watching for it.  I'll keep you up on how I'm doing and I'm confident I'll have many years left ahead.   I'm planning on doing some trips and special events in the coming years since you don't know when tomorrow will never come.

Best wishes on a successful treatment. Know you are in good hands and things will go well.

My dad had prostate cancer and they caught it early as well. He had some sort of procedure done where they insert radioactive seeds in the cancerous area and they attack the cancerous area. He is doing well today and at 80 his cancer has not returned.

I realize everyone's treat is different but your treatment is to extend your life so you and your viewers who depend on weather reports can appreciate the years to come.

Hang in there and take care.

My Dad had prostate cancer. He was in his late 60s, and his too was caught early. He opted for surgery and although it was a long recovery, he had 11-1/2 great years afterwards. Good luck to you, Bob... you can beat it.

Well, the bad news is you have prostate cancer. The good news is you did everything you were supposed to do and caught it before it caught you. I am a huge fan of yours...always have been. You have many people who count on you. I will pray for a full recovery. God bless you and your family!

Sorry to hear of your Illness. The March issue of consumer reports as it's main story is an article on cancer tests and the results of getting them and not getting them. It might interest you as much of the article is about prostate cancer.
