35 Years of Great Memories...Thank You New Orleans

Yesterday was one of the most exciting days in my life as I was honored by the management of FOX 8 for 35 years of service.  Here I was back in 1978 a 30 year old kid hired to replace the legend of Nash Roberts.  It was a very difficult 10-15 years as this "different" kid brought a new style to local weathercasting.  Over time more and more people began to enjoy my storytelling and I started to feel like "they really, really like me!"  So thank you to a city that has become my home for the past 35 years and will continue to be my home long after my TV career ends.

It's another big event weekend outdoors so we really want it to stay dry.  Friday I see no problems.  Saturday looks mostly dry with most showers remaining to our west & north.  Sunday doesn't look as promising as another front approaches bringing a good chance for showers and possible T-Storms. We'll give it another look tomorrow. Stay tuned!

What a fantastic tribute to New Orleans' own weatherman, Bob Breck...Ch.8 did an excellent job in reliving the years and how Bob and the city have grown, you could say New Orleans changed Bob...and...Bob changed New Orleans...Meanwhile you have touched at least two generations of people.

I agree, you get us thru the storm...whether extreme weather or a hurricane, I have found you use technology, satellite, and maps to explain what is going on with the storm which I can understand...and have found that you being calm, keeps us calm...even when knowing a storm like Katrina is about to hit...

Thanks again for 35 years of weather forecasting...

Congrats on 35 years of stellar service to both the TV station and the citizens of the greater New Orleans area. You now have all the experience that Ole NASH had, with a bit of sense of humor that he lacked. What a wonderful combination.

Thanks for 35 years of stellar service to both the station network and the citizens of greater new orleans and surrounding areas. You now have all the expertise that Nash had. Add you sense or humor, which Nash lacked, and we have a perfect combination. Congrats Bob on a job well done. Your mother must be so proud!

Robert E. Zabrecky's 35th year at Channel 8 is but one of 2 special occasions at the station. In November, WVUE-TV itself will observe its 60th anniversary on the air (1953-2013)!
