Begging For Viewers...

Rather humorous watching The Weather Channel today outright begging its viewers to call Direct TV to protest TWC being dropped from Direct TV’s programming.  TWC tried to claim Congress should even intervene since it’s a “public safety issue”.  Huh?   This from the Channel that has given us such great programming as “The Prospectors!   They used to be all about WEATHER, but they went to becoming a part reality programming station.   Real weather geeks found they could get so much more up to the minute weather data FREE on the internet.  So TWC viewership tanked and now they want Congress to bail them out?  What say you?

After a rainy Monday, Tuesday will be the best day this week before several cold fronts bring us back to January reality & heavy coat weather.   We may have to deal with more freezing mornings as “Polar Vortex 2 & 3 “ maybe coming south again!  Stay tuned!

I AGREE WITH YOU, BOB! Unfortunately, The Weather Channel is not what it used to be. Once they included reality-style programming, I completely lost all interest.

TWC that I grew up with had enthusiastic meteorologists - not TV personalities and public speakers. As a child, I literally would turn on TWC as soon as I got home and would look forward to updates every 8 minutes, and the severe weather outlook every 50 min past the hour. Now, there's hardly any talk about weather and all commercials.

This being said... Direct TV would be foolish to drop TWC as it a staple in every household and does help us familiarize ourselves with weather around the country - if not the world.

Thankfully, we don't have to worry about Direct TV dropping our very own Bob Breck!

I do like Jim Cantore though.... Really great weather forecaster and gets down and into the middle of every single weather situation. I remember seeing him on the beaches of Biloxi right before Katrina struck and said, let's get out of here, if Jim Cantore is here, it's gonna be bad!!!

TWC should have stuck to the weather exclusively.Wish our cable company would do the same.I tune into a weather channel for weather, not some dumb reality show. There are plenty of those on other channels if I feel the need to watch one.
