Breck Is Back...

Yea I've been gone a week...not on vacation, but attending the National Hurricane Conference in Orlando.   I'm sure you've heard that the 2014 season "should" see far fewer named storms (9) & only 1 major hurricane.   That was the good news....the Bad?   The reason for fewer storms is expected to be a moderate to strong El Nino that will increase wind shear over the Tropics.  The following recent years had an El Nino going on...1965 (Betsy), 1983 (Alicia), 1992 (Andrew).   As you know these were all major hurricanes that affected the Gulf Coast.  So just because the numbers this summer may be low, as always it's about LOCATION.

I hope you have been enjoying the April cool spell.   We are about to enter the time of the year where we start seeing highs rise to "almost hot".  I find 80-85 fairly comfortable, but when we reach the upper 80s to near 90, yikes!   I am reading some articles suggesting that this could be the "year without a hot summer".  No, that doesn't include the southern states but mainly the Northeast & Great Lakes.  The 90s are a coming here.  If we can just hold off on them for several more weeks!   See you on FOX 8 Monday at 4 & 5 pm.
