It didn't take Dr. Jeff Masters very long to get on The Weather Channel and harp about AGW & the Detroit Flood. This comes right on the heels of TWC going on about how Hurricanes never hit Hawaii, let alone 2 in one week. Turns out, only one hit & it wasn't hurricane strength. Point here is they are trying to tie single weather events into the "new normal" of climate change. Have a cold outbreak (Polar Vortex) and it's weather. Have anything connected to warm weather & it's climate change. Go figure. I remember the great flood here in May of 1995 when we had 15-20". That's almost 20 years ago. These things happen & will continue to happen. The climate of Planet Earth has always been changing and will continue to change in the future. Urbanization has changed the climates around cities. Deforestation has changed the regional climates in several countries. But the real driver of climate is and will forever be the ocean currents that have CYCLES. We currently appear to be in a cooling CYCLE that none of the computer models predicted. Go back to James Hanson's appearance before Congress back in 1988 (26 years ago) and look at what kind of alarmist's predictions he made. None of them has happened, yet he's rich (how evil) from his book sales. Bottom line...a recent study showed more people died from cold outbreaks than heat waves. Yet all we hear is how bad a warmer climate will be.
Locally, a rare August COLD front will bring less humid air for the next 2-3 days. Enjoy it before the warmer climate returns on Friday!
