Multiple Storms coming?

After a quiet 5+ weeks, NHC and computer models are indicating we could be following several named storms in the next 3-5 days.  Hurricane Danny is already out there but another strong wave could become Erika followed by another wave that could become Fred.  (Fred?)  This should come as no surprise since we are in the heart of hurricane season that peaks on Sept. 10th.  The next 4-6 weeks could easily see 4 or 5 named storms before October & November turn quiet.  Danny is looking much better organized tonight with the classic donut hole eye wall showing up on satellite loops.  He is in a region of low shear for another 24-36 hours and could approach Cat. 2 status on Friday.  All models show weakening after that with Danny opening to just a tropical wave next week.  What follows Danny could be a stronger Erika or Fred for next week.  Neither should make their way into the Gulf.

I keep getting e-mails demanding an end to summer.  Folks are sick and tired of all the heat & humidity and want some relief.  Historically, the first REAL cold front doesn’t arrive until the 3rd or 4th week into September.   Personally, I don’t mind the heat.  I really hate the cold.   Sorry Folks.  Stay tuned!
