I have been saying we need to pay attention to the western Gulf next week as a cold front pushes offshore this weekend and computer models were developing a low malong the western end of the front. Today’s models don’t do that. They have back off from the past 2 days of developing what would be Ida to having nothing there. Tomorrow they may be back with a storm, but that is why I don’t get all crazy about things predicted 5-7 days out. The level of uncertainty is so great that one cannot make any decisions that far ahead. It is the peak of the hurricane season and we should pay attention for the next 3-4 weeks. But let’s not get too carried away by computer models that have far too often been WRONG. Are you listening the AGW crowd?
Tomorrow we should see a real cold front reach us after dark and before daybreak on Saturday. Friday may be stormy at times much like today before drier air filters in on Saturday. Sunday & Monday mornings should feel terrific before the muggies roar back on Tuesday. Some of you have noticed that I don’t work as often anymore. As I approach my 68th year on this Planet, I am winding down my work schedule. I trust you understand the need to watch my health as I have had 2 scares (Prostate cancer, pacemaker) during the last 2 years. Thanks.

Appreciate all that you do, Bob. You're the only legitimate meteorologist I follow and trust. So I'm glad to have you available. It's a lot to hope for, but I do hope when you retire we will have a logical and well learned replacement. It's sad but many seem rigor get about you until hurricane season approaches. I wish you the best and look forward to the remaining years we have you as our meteorologist.
