John Denver Had It Right...

"Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy...sunshine almost always makes me high."   Yep, I totally agree as today was so terrific with the sun making it feel just right.   The Weather Channel mentioned that New Orleans had seen only 4 sunny days since December 1st.   Wow,  that's why we've all felt so depressed and lacked energy.   The really good news is clear skies will stay around through the weekend into next week.  A weak front will approach on Tuesday, but rain chances will be low giving us more time to dry out.   Better enjoy this weekend & early next week as long range models continue to indicate a major pattern shift is coming for the second half of January.   We'll be in the 60s tomorrow, near 70 for Sunday and 72-76 for Monday & Tuesday.   The cool down will be in stages with highs falling into the 50s for late next week and even colder the following week.   This pattern change mimics the Winters of 2014 & 2015 that turned very cold and snowy over the Great Lakes & Northeast.   Mardi Gras is late this year (March 5) so the questions are...IF the cold locks in for much of the country late January through February, will it break by early march?   IF it turns very cold, will there be a snowfall for the Gulf South?   Alaska has turned very cold (25-30 below) again and the only thing missing is the dreaded "Polar Vortex".  Such fun.  Stay tuned!
