Heading Towards a Record Season...

Satellite views indicated the well defined swirl SE of Bermuda has been getting better organized and NHC has made it our 27th named storm (Epsilon).  It is stationary, but is expected to develop into a hurricane as it brushes Bermuda in several days.  It will not affect the United States..

The other area that NHC has been highlighting, since computer models kept indicating development, is now shifted into the NW Caribbean where some banding cloud features show up.

This feature appears to be a tropical wave that is heading to the west.  It's brought a surge of tropical moisture/Squalls into central & south Florida.    None of today's models develop this feature.
For those of you worry warts about this feature coming into the Gulf, look at the current Oceanic Heat Content/Energy Potential.  The blue indicates cooler temps with the red the warmer temps.  Nuff said.

We really have some very cold air not far from us.  Dallas is only in the lower 60s!  However, that front has stalled out and will not bring back that good feeling air.  We'll stay summer-like all this week.   There will be a weak cold front arrive over the weekend with the real deal cold front pushing through later next week.

For us to get cooler it first must get colder up north, and it has!   Look at the extensive cloud shield along and north of the cold front.  The blue on radar is frozen precipitation and there will be several inches on the ground from the northern plains into the northern Great Lakes. The change in seasons is happening.  For us, we usually lag the north by several weeks.   It will be a cold Halloween Gang.  Stay tuned!
