Be Careful What You Wish For...

Many of you know I hate cold weather and can better deal with the heat.  However, it is January and for the next 10-14 days, aside from a couple of cold fronts, I don't see any Arctic blast coming down to us.  So what you ask?   Well today's Advocate had a photo of Hurricane Laura from last summer that reminded me what warm weather brings...HURRICANES.

So yea, I will quit whining, put on the sweaters and coats when needed and hope we finally get into some cooler weather for February & March.   The country still lacks any super cold air and the long range models indicate we will go into February with no threat of a Polar Express coming.

There are single digit temps up along the Canadian border, but that's normal for late January.  Lots of clouds cover the nation, but we currently have no major storms going on.  The big news for us is we finally saw some sunny breaks as a warm front has pushed to our north.

The main weather problem for us will be some dense fog for the next 2-3 mornings.  Already NWS indicates a dense fog advisory will be issued.   With dew points 65-70, this is very soupy air that should allow for fog to form quickly after dark.

If we see enough sunshine on Monday we could top the 80 degree for the first time this year.  A clear sign that we haven't been cold is my 5 foot+ Crown of Thorns hasn't lost any leaves and is still blooming like crazy.

Finally, my oldest son (Rob) in Colorado sent me this photo this morning.  It was from CBS News Sunday with Jane Pauley.  They had a story recapping the career of Larry King who died this weekend at the age of 87.  I had forgotten that Larry did one of his interviews from New Orleans on the old Ch. 8 set.  I did not get to meet Larry or the man he was interviewing ( Al Gore).  Small World.   Careful in the morning with the dense fog.  Stay tuned!
