Severe Threat Coming Next Few Hours, Especially North Shore...

Well the strong winds blew our fishing trip & we returned early.  Good thing as there is a severe threat for us during the next 5-6 hours with a Tornado Watch issued for the North Shore through 10 PM.

The bottom two graphics are from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) indicating a level 4 (Moderate) risk centered over Jackson, MS.  The North Shore is in level 3 (Enhanced) with Level 2 clipping parts of the South Shore.  RIGHT NOW, radar views appears to show the worst storms should be north of Lake P.

The bottom graphic also has the heaviest rainfall (3-5") staying north, but that could change if the approaching cold front slows down over us.

Look at all the high (70+) dew points indicating deep low level moisture along the Gulf Coast states.

That, coupled with a fast moving upper disturbance, has triggered a large area of showers & Storms from Texas to Virginia.

Once the upper disturbance races to our NE, we'll see the upper flow change to the NW over us giving a real cold front that will lower humidity for several days.

Our current south winds will become northly for several days before returning back to the south on Mother's Day.  Let's pay attention this evening as some of us will get in on strong storms that could produce some damage.  Stay tuned!
