SW Upper Low Finally Moving, Storms Heading Our Way...

The upper low that has been stalled over Mexico for 2-3 days is now moving towards the NE and it's triggering a large area of showers & T-Storms.   SPC indicates there is a slight risk (Level 2) for strong storms here late tonight into midday on Sunday.

SPC (Storm Prediction Center) is indicating the severe risk to our west tonight will shift over us tomorrow and lift northward on Monday.

This storm threat is due to the upper feature and there is no cold front with it.

Next week we'll see another cold front approach and it appears it'll have enough support to drive through and bring cooler and drier air for next Thursday & Friday.

Our best rain chances come late tonight into Sunday and then late Tuesday into Wednesday.  The 5 day rain potential indicates the North Shore could receive 3-5"+ with 1-3" over the South Shore.   We did end April as the 5th wettest (12.85").

Finally, I must remind you that we are only one month from the start of the 2021 Hurricane Season.  All of the Gurus are forecasting another active season with as many as 15-20+ named storms.  That's a lot, but far less than the 30 last year.  Hopefully, Louisiana will not again be the bullseye this Summer?  Stay tuned!
