Hot Temps in July? Duh...

I know Gramps is getting old here, but watching local weather over the weekend and one would think this "intense" heat we've been having has never happened before. I guess I have an advantage since I have lived here during the 2 hottest summers ever.(1980 & '81). Most of the current weathercasters weren't born yet! My memory recalls that during 1980, Dallas had 42 days in a row above 100! The heat was widespread and long lasting. So I say...get over it. July & August are supposed to be hot. It's called Summer in Da South!

This week may see better rain chances as several upper disturbances are rotating around the upper ridge to our north. As the ridge pulls farther to the west, we should see daily shower coverage increase resulting in slightly less hot high temps. The tropics have several waves but too much wind shear to allow anything to develop for another 7-10 days.
