Rainy Pattern...Drought Gone?

Rainfall of 7-14" the past 4 days over SE Louisiana has essentially wiped out our rain deficit for the year. That is not the case everywhere(Kenner is still down 9"+) but for many it's now too much water. We could see another 2-3 days of above normal showers before a drying trend sets in for the weekend.

A tropical wave (NHC says has near zero chance of developing) is moving thru the Western Caribbean tonight. Satellite loops clearly show some kind of swirl south of Cuba and there has been an increase in T-Storms during the past 6 hours. It's heading westward towards the Yucatan and might develop some once in the southern Gulf. It can't come northward with the current strong NE shear across most of the northern Gulf. In fact, the Tropospheric Upper Tropical Trough(TUTT) should prevent any system from impacting the U. S. for the next 7-10 days. By the 2nd week in August the MJO (more on that tomorrow) may become more favorable and we could see a really active late August into mid September. Stay tuned !

I can't speak for anyone else, but my family and I are really getting ready to run. I have a feeling we will be on the road a lot this hurricane season.

Bob, with the 18z GFDL model run shifting eastward, do you think the ridge could be moving faster to the east than first expected??

Thanx,

Still can't find where the NHC says near zero chance of forming? Why are you post very misleading info? Agenda of somekind?
