We're still 9 days away from the official start of the 2012 Hurricane Season, but there are hints that Storm # 2 could be trying to form down in the Western Caribbean. The MJO is currently in a "favorable phase" that encourages rising air so don't be surprised if another storm develops over the next 4-5 days. I prefer to have the MJO in this phase now instead of August & September when water temps will be much warmer. Also, we currently have SST marginally warm enough for tropical development so a major storm is highly unlikely. Expect to see lots of rain move across Cuba & south Florida for the rest of this week.
An upper high will build over us during the next 3-4 days meaning rain chances will go down and temps up for your holiday weekend.
