NOAA announced this afternoon that Dr. Rick Knabb is returning to the National Hurricane Center as their new Director replacing the retiring Bill Read. Dr. Knabb was a senior hurricane specialist at NHC and his return should mean a seamless transition. He has been the Tropical Specialist with The Weather Channel for the past 2 years.
We have the possibility that the season's 1st named storm could form off the Carolina coast this weekend as a semi-hybrid (sub-tropical) system. Since it's expected to remain nearly stationary, the circulation around it will continue the dry flow of air down into Louisiana. Our rain chances will stay slim to none until a weak front gets close next Tuesday. Enjoy your weekend!
