Katz is Coming...

As many of you know, FOX 8 went from the biggest staff of meteorologists to the smallest staff as Kim Vaughn returned to school to get her M.S. degree in enginnering and Dawn Brown followed her husband to Baltimore. Beginning tomorrow, New Year's Day Bruce Katz will make his debut on the morning & noon news programs. No, he's not replacing Chris Franklin who will be on vacation the rest of this week.  Bruce's schedule will eventually be the noon and 4 PM weathercasts.  His joining FOX 8 is appropriate since we are Your Home Team and Bruce was born and raised in New Orleans.  We welcome his 17+ years of local experience at WGNO and expect him to be a valuable asset during severe weather and hurricanes.  I hope you join me in welcoming Bruce to his new TV Family.

Weatherwise, New Year's Eve looks to be terrific as temps have warmed back into the 60s and the rain threat should hold off until midday on Tuesday.  It appears we'll see several ugly days (Tue-Thurs) as a cold front will stagger through and stall just offshore along our coast.  That will bring back the cool (not cold) air and a couple of waves of low pressure will keep us in and out of rainy periods.  Friday should clear but we'll stay below normal/average through the weekend.

As we close 2012, I know it has been a bad year for many.  I have some health issues that I will be dealing with during the next 3 months, but I'm hoping 2013 will prove to be much better for most.  I rely on Faith, Family & Friends to help me on this journey to the next life.   Too often we focus on the un-important and forget to STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES.  My resolutions are to be more patient, more understanding and more forgiving.  Happy New Year and I'll be back on-air Wednesday at 4 PM.
