Yesterday I indicated we needed to pay attention to the southern Gulf and nothing has changed that thinking tonight. NHC only gives the area of showers & T-Storms a 10% chance to devevelop since strong upper shearing winds cover the western & northern Gulf. However, the stalled upper trough over east Kansas tonight will slowly start to lift out and by Saturday & Sunday, upper winds over the Gulf could relax enough to allow some formation of a weak system (TD ?) . Bottom line, models do not have a handle on this system because it is poorly / not organized. My gut still says Saturday & Sunday here could turn quite wet, hopefully not like the 6-12" that swamped parts of the Florida beaches today. Stay tuned !
