Another Alarmist's Prediction...

There it was...another headline...Birds to vanish...by the year 2080.   Huh?  2080? Will anyone alive today be around to know if that comes true?  Very few, but who cares.   Ooops, read on a little further and you find the report has NOT been peer-reviewed, like that would mean something?  Nope, all one has to do is put out an un-verifiable prediction and some news service will pick it up as "fact".  Oh what has become of journalism?

Today is the 49th anniversary of Hurricane Betsy.  She was the storm so many used for so long as the storm they remembered as the worst in their lifetime.  But then came Katrina, a storm we would like to forget.  No such systems in the Tropics tonight.  NHC is giving a cluster of storms way out in the Atlantic a 70% chance that it will become Edouard during the next 3-5 days.  all models turn it to the north well away from the east coast.  Another swirl follows that so we could see several named storms here within the next 5-7 days, after all, we reach the historic peak of the season tomorrow Sept. 10th.   There is another weak rotation east of the Bahamas that NHC gives a 20% chance for development.   It's still the time of the year we pay close attention to the Tropics...at least until the fronts start coming and it doesn't look like that will be this week.  Stay tuned!

I googled it and found the article. I agree that it was largely a shining example of conjecture. The biggest threat to birds has been, and still is, loss of habitat. I would find an article about that and the affect it will have on birds in 2080 far more believable.

Based on my observations, the AGW crowd is loosing some of it's grip on the masses and is doing what it can to hang on. Record lows and snowfalls really aren't helping their case any. How long did it take before we got our first 90 degree day this summer?

Thanks for what you do and attempting to spread a little common sense amongst our society.
