Brutal Cold Growing Up North

The Polar Bears must be going nuts as Arctic cold continues to expand over much of Canada.  30 to 35 degrees below zero must make the Bears joyful since we’re told warming makes them miserable.  When that kind of cold air shows up to our north, I’m always on alert for a surprised dip in the Jet Stream that could bring that air into the lower 48.  Right now it appears that won’t happen.  It would take a “phasing” of the northern stream energy with the southern stream to re-establish the deep east coast trough and computer models don’t show that…Yet!  Stay tuned!

In the short term, we’ll stay with our mild & muggy weather that produces some dense over night fog that makes for slower morning drive travel.  Afternoons see some sunny breaks with highs warming into the 70s.  That will not change until our next front reaches us late Saturday or on Sunday.
