Coastal Storms

We typically see a Winter “rainy season” kick in by now but that isn’t happening this year.  Our yearly rain deficit is now over 8” with no rain expected through the weekend.  Where’s the Rain?   On both coasts for sure.   The southern sub-tropical jet stream has not been active as most of the atmospheric energy stays well to our north.  The storms moving into California are welcomed news and certainly will put a huge dent in their multi-year dry spell.  Sooner or later, the southern stream will get clicking and then we’ll complain that we’re too wet!   In the short term, nights will be chilly with afternoon comfy cool before a warming trend arrives on Saturday.  Our next front should bring a few showers late Monday into Tuesday, but this will not be a strong front.   Stay tuned!
