Heavy Rain Potential...

A cold front has push far enough off the Louisiana coast to take the rain threat out of Saturday’s forecast.  Slightly cooler & drier air has filtered in.  However, the National Weather Service’s long range (5-7 days) rainfall predictions are indicating we could see some heavy rain totals (4-6”+) as the old front returns northward for Sunday into next week.  If those amounts are spread out over several days, that would cause little problems.  However, if those amounts happen in less than a day, or in several hours, we could have some minor flooding issues.   This is only a heads up for something that might not happen.  But once we are back in the warm air sector with abundant low level moisture, any small upper disturbances could trigger several heavy rain periods.  Pay attention Sunday through Thursday.  For Today, enjoy the dry weather.
