Jim "Catfish" Henderson

Before I retired, I was honored to work with NOLA Sport Casting Legend Jim Henderson.   For far too long, he worked for the competition, but consented to finish up his career working at FOX 8.     Jim and I have been to various social events, but the past 2 days were the first time fishing in salt water.   Now Jim is known as a bass master expert, but I had no idea he was also an expert catching Catfish.  Big catfish, small catfish, the only catfish he didn’t catch was fried!   He easily caught the most variety of fish (redfish, sheepshead, croaker & trout) but the number of catfish numbered into the teens!  What a great time it was to share with Capt. Hylton & Jim Henderson.  Hope to do it again.

We have been way too warm far too early.  In fact, the past 2 days have easily broken the record highs for the day at 96.  And it’s just mid-May!    We need our daily rain storms to cool us down.  Finally some have developed today and more should be coming during the next few days.   The sooner they bubble up, the less hot we’ll be.  But we all know, summer is here and won’t leave until late September.  But what a Spring it was!

Nothing has developed with the system over the eastern Gulf and NHC lowered any chance for strengthening to 10%.   Remember the GFS (American Model) has predicted something to form in the Caribbean next week and move into the Gulf towards Florida.  Today’s runs are far less bullish and way slower.   That’s why models beyond 3-5 days aren’t very good.  Stay tuned!
