Waiting on Beryl...

Looking at tonight satellite loops, out in the tropical Atlantic we find a well-defined circulation that in the past few years NHC would already have made a depression.  I can only think that the well-advertised cold pool out in the MDR (main development region) is making NHC a little “gun shy” on making this a depression or Tropical Storm.   I think they are hoping the cooler waters will inhibit development.  Regardless, whatever forms is so far out that it doesn’t warrant our attention at this time.    Closer in south of Bermuda is another area that NHC thinks has some potential.   Again, if something were to form, it is expected to be swallowed up by a frontal boundary and turned to the NE away from the U.S.  Bottom line, during the next 7-14 days, there is nothing that will be a threat to the Gulf coast.  Better still, the MJO is going into the unfavorable phase (sinking air) for the next several weeks.  That should mean we’ll get to August without any tropical threats.  As you know, August & September are our prime time so we have a long way to go before the “Fat Lady” sings.

Locally, another upper low/tropical wave is heading our way so expect some storms to develop for Thursday & Friday.   A frontal boundary will get close for this weekend and that could keep rain chances above normal through the weekend.  These will be tropical downpours so 1-2”+ in less than an hour can be expected.

As we celebrate the 4th of July, I’m reminded of that song “God bless America, land that I love, stand beside her and guide her through the night with a light from above”.   Now I’m not asking you to believe in a Creator.  I’m asking you to believe in America, warts and all.   I believe we are a nation of more moderates who are fiscal conservatives but social liberals.  The noise goes to those on the extreme right and left leaving us in the middle voiceless.   It’s time to tell those hateful liberals & conservatives to stop it.  You do not represent us.  We want what is best for the country and not what is best for the party.   I lived through the Viet Nam War  & the Country survived.  We will survive the current division because in the end we know ,despite all our shortcomings, we still remain the greatest nation on this Planet.  Happy Birthday America.  Stay tuned!
