Beware the Building Cold...

Today’s high of 83 came within 3 degrees of the record of 86.   But what jumped out at me was today’s record low is 29.  Yes, we can get below freezing on the South Shore in early November.  So what I’m seeing (David showed Alaska & Canada on early weather) is way below zero (-15 to -20) temperatures across Alaska & northern Canada waiting to head south.  Long range computer models are indicating a deep dip in the jet stream coming for this weekend with another surge for early next week.   I don’t think these cold blasts will bring freezing temps south of Lake P. since the lake is still 70+.  But next week the North Shore could dip into the 30s with 40s on the South Shore.  That will be a drastic change from the highs in the 80s for Tuesday & Wednesday making the 40s seem even colder.   Severe weather is passing far to our north tonight and we will have some showers linger around until the real surge of cold air arrives on Friday.  Saturday may not get out of the 50s with a brisk north breeze.  As these cold blasts push deep into the Gulf, we will have to watch for a Gulf low forming that brings us a cold rain followed by the BIG CHILL.  Stay tuned!

An update on the MEN WHO COOK fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Covington…thank you to those who bumped our total to $1,035 leaving me only $1,955 short of the $3,000 goal.   I only need 391 donors contributing $5 to reach that goal, or only 98 donors contributing $20.   Here’s the link to contribute;
