Today's Snowstorm Just a Preview...

Even though today's snowstorm wasn't a blizzard (Temps too warm, winds too light), it created gridlock across many of the major interstates from Kansas to Ohio.   It'll move eastward over night & on Sunday and tomorrow's Chargers vs Ravens game in Baltimore should look a lot like it did at the Chief's game this afternoon.   Snow was piled up all around the stadium and that scene will be repeated in Baltimore.  This system should stay south of the Boston area and that NFL game will just have very cold temps (20s).   As Lee Zurik often says..."But there's more!"   The brutal cold (40-50 below) remains over Alaska & Northern Canada and long range models are bringing that chill southward into the lower 48 for late next week.   I still think we will have to deal with freezing temps south of Lake P. as soon as next Sunday with an even stronger blast coming for the following Tuesday & Wednesday.  There continues to be hints of a southern snowstorm so the last 7-10 days of January could get pretty exciting around us.  We still have many days to watch how the cold develops, but it does appear we'll have to worry about pipe busting temperatures (20-25) south of Lake P.    I'll try to have daily updates the closer it gets.

In the short term, today's brief downpours are gone and the next 3-4 days stay dry.   It reached 72 this afternoon, but highs will stay in the 50s Sunday through Tuesday.   These are slightly below normal temperatures for mid January and will look warm compared to what's coming the week of Jan. 20th.  Haven't changed my thinking regarding the Saints.   Bring the wood, finish strong & do your job and the Saints go home winners!  Who Dat!
