Fires Not Just in California...

We have all seen the terrible damage from the fires out west that have mainly been focused on California where my nephew in Paradise lost everything last summer.   However, one fire has now hit close to home, that is close to the home of my oldest son in Longmont outside of Boulder.

You can see the pretty colors of the leaves that jump out on the blue sky background.  Unlike many of the communities in California that are built into the mountains and forests, Longmont is built out over the plains away from the mountains.  Mainly farmlands surround the town.  Still, seeing a fire that close (16 miles) does make one nervous.  Let's home the rains & snows begin soon out west.

What a terrific weekend it's been here as I walked Bailey along the levee just off Severn on the South shore.

Sure low level moisture has returned and the cloud "streets" are kind of neat to see aligning with the SE wind flow.  Cold air has invaded the northern plains with an extensive cloud shield and the growing season has ended up north.

Even though the cold air is not too far away, I see no fronts reaching us until NEXT week.  We should stay in the 80s making it feel summer-like.   There are signs that a strong front will arrive before Halloween.

NHC is still highlighting 2 areas for development.  the one SE of Bermuda does have a well defined low level circulation, but it lacks T-Storms around the center.  Even if it develops, it will stay way out to sea.  Computer models have been off & on again about something forming in the Caribbean and moving northward across Cuba and then east of Florida.  Right now, there is nothing there.  Stay tuned!

Hi Bob, Praying for rain and snow for Colorado, the west sure could use a break and some
rain! My question for N.O., without any fronts of significance to aid in storm protection until Halloween or maybe later,IF something should develop in the West Caribbean and move into the gulf could we expect a due north or northwestward approach as we do in Sept. and August?
