Spring Arrives On A Frigid Feel...

The Spring Equinox occurred at 4:24 PM after a morning that started Winter-like.  I salute the computer guidance that was within 1-2 degrees of the actual over night lows.  As I expected, my house stayed well above freezing and I left my plants outside.  Not so for the North Shore and away from the Lake south.  Hope you protected all your tender plants?

Just as those NE winds keep the South Shore warmer this morning, the reverse has happened this afternoon as it's warmer to the north where the winds are not off the water.

Today's clear skies revealed how the high levels of the Mississippi River are making for muddy waters.  With water temps crashing into the upper 40s & lower 50s, it will be difficult for fishermen for the next 2-3 weeks.

Those clear skies will not last as low clouds have developed with the return flow off the Gulf to our west.

You can see the warm up on the back side (western) of the surface high.  In fact, St. Louis is 60+.

Tonight will be our last cold night and spots north of Lake P. could again approaching freezing.  Note how dry the air (dew points in the teens & 20s) is with the moisture return showing up over south Texas.

It appears we'll be staying warm for the rest of this week after a hilly 6 days.

It's interesting how the atmosphere works.  We had a streak of 21 days well above normal/average and now our current cool stretch is at 8 days.  Tomorrow should make # 9 before we begin a warm streak again.  Ahhh, the ups and downs of Springtime!  Stay tuned!
