Cool Down Will be Brief & Not Severe, Cloudy, Rainy Stretch Coming

If you've been watching The Weather Channel, they have followed the strong Arctic outbreak that brought reality back to the folks up north.  Gone is the near 80 degree warmth in St. Louis, Chicago & Detroit replace with temperatures in the 20s!  Many locations were 40-50 degrees colder!  Burr!

That cold front will be moving through us during the next 2-3 hours bringing back sweaters & jackets. A thin band of showers accompanies the front, but all we'll see are a few sprinkles. Note, the real cool down is over north Louisiana.  But the chill won't linger as another upper disturbance is tracking our way.

With the upper flow remaining WSW, the frontal boundary will stall over the northern Gulf.  There is the POTENTIAL for some heavy rainfall here Thursday night into Friday.

Bruce showed us one model forecast giving 1-2" across SE LA/MS.  NWS indicates some locations could get 3"+.

But as the 7 day shows, the real chill will be north & east with a quick warm up for this weekend.  Finally,

It was 8 years ago tonight that FOX 8 threw me a fabulous retirement party.  Hard to believe I begin my 9th year March 2nd still healthy & still FOX 8's Hurricane Consultant.  Speaking of retirement...

My good friend Tom Skilling is retiring tonight after 45 with WGN-TV in Chicago.. As you can see, Tom and I began our careers BC (Before Computers) using paper maps. Egad were they ugly!  Congrats Tom!  Stay tuned!
