West Coast Hammered Again While Most Of Nation Quiet

Our morning lows followed the NWS guidance as the North Shore dipped into the upper 20s & low 30s along with areas west and away from Lake P. south.  Under bright sunshine, highs rebounded into the low to mid 60s.  With clear skies, it'll be chilly again tonight with lighter winds, but temps should be 3-5 degrees higher than last night where my low was 41.

You can already see how the wind flow to our south & west is turning back off the Gulf.  Tuesday will be another beauty with all day sunshine with no signs of another cold blast coming this week. There is a weak upper feature racing across Missouri, but all brings are some clouds.

Dew points remain very low and that results in good feel air IF you're dressed for it.  Only south Texas is seeing a surge in low level moisture.  Eventually, we'll notice a different feel by Wednesday & Thursday as our humidity increases. California is seeing another round of rain & snow, but the rest of the nation is fairly nice for February with most locations above freezing.  I see no signs of another Polar Vortex during the next 10-14 days & that will get us into March.

That doesn't mean we're done with the cold air/freeze threats.  Super cold air (35-45 below zero) is showing up across eastern Canada.  As long as an East Coast upper trough doesn't develop, there is no mechanism to bring the chill south.  Certainly bears watching.

So with the warm up coming for the next 7 days, I've moved my tropical plants back outside this afternoon.  Tomorrow is time to tidy up my yard and remove all the dead vegetation.  Stay tuned!
