Some Clouds Will linger, But Weekend Should Be Mostly Dry.

An upper WSW flow resulted in a slow moving cold front to finally stagger through SE LA/MS by late this afternoon.  Several weak disturbances triggered rounds of T-Showers with good soaking rains on both sides of Lake Pontchartrain.  Amounts were generally 1-2" across the South Shore, but they were spread out over many hours and didn't cause any street flooding problems.  The first disturbance is way up south of Chicago with another just passing to our east.  You can see the heaviest rains are now past us.

So now the question becomes...where will the sun return?  The problem continues to be the upper flow remains WSW so some clouds will linger making for filtered sunshine this weekend.

Under the clouds over the Southeast, it's chilly, but there is no real cold (below freezing) air outside the mountains in the West.  That's where a stalled upper storm is roaring like a lion bringing heavy rains &  tremendous  snow totals.  In between that storm & us, it appears this weekend should be mostly dry.

Much of northern Louisiana broke out into sunshine and that could happen here, especially north of the Lake.

Going out tonight, you may have a few sprinkles, but no heavy rainfall is expected.  It'll be a damp chill, but hardly cold. Finally...

Yep, we're still three months from the 2024 Hurricane season but the FIRST ANXIETY is raging on social media.  "Hurricane Season from Hell!", most named storms ever, 5-8 major hurricanes, yada, yada, yada.   Please try to ignore these headline seeking folks.  Yes, all signs point to another active season and yes, we must have a plan whether it's 40 storms or one.  LOCATION is always the key and NO ONE can tell you that 3 months out.   Geez, Tornado Season is coming, Fire Season is coming or already here and the Rainy Season (Summer) is coming.  So what is one to do?  Take a deep breath, relax and enjoy THIS weekend.  We have no reason to get anxious over stuff many months away.  Stay tuned!
