Clock is Ticking, Time To Watch The Tropics

It's hard to believe we've almost reached the beginning of a new Hurricane Season.  It's a season where All of the "experts" are predicting "historic" record off the wall numbers (25-30) of named storms.  So with less than 10 days to go, let's look at the Tropics.  Aha, we do have a cloud cluster extending from the Caribbean northward.

It does have a comma shape which tells me it's more a mid to upper level feature.  NHC isn't talking about it yet since there are no T-Storms with it.  None of the models are developing anything for the next 10-14 days so it doesn't look like we'll see a preseason named storm as has happened in previous years.  Our weather will not see any significant changes through the memorial Day weekend as a frontal boundary is stalled to our NW.

You can see the big temperature & dew point differences either side of the boundary.  Strong storms are firing off and SPC has many Severe T-Storm Watches (blue boxes) and Tornado Watches (red boxes) in effect.

Yesterday saw 20 tornadoes with widespread damages. It's remarkable to see the drone video showing the path.  If you were just outside the path (red roof), your house survived.

If you were in the path (bottom pic), only slabs were left.   Scary stuff.

I was outside this afternoon and it felt rather nice with a brisk breeze.  We stayed below 90 again and I mentioned yesterday why it will be difficult to get into the mid 90s.  Whatever, I'm not going to harp on the heat until we get into late June, July & August. This is NOT bad stuff yet.  Stay tuned!
