Will Beryl Be Born In Caribbean? Tropics Showing Signs Of Life

As we head towards the end of June, a strong Tropical Wave has gained the attention of the National Hurricane Center (NHC).  They have designated it 94 L allowing computer models to begin running future tracks,  Let's begin with where it is and why it will struggle to organize.

Right away, you can see it should never be our concern, even IF it reaches the southern Gulf.  But look at all the Saharan dust around it making development unlikely.

In addition, it's nearing the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao), an area historically unfavorable for development.

Computer models do not develop 94 L as it heads towards the Yucatan, but it gives us something to do besides complain about the heat.  Models are seeing several future waves coming off of Africa developing for NEXT week as they approach the Leeward Islands  Certainly, way to soon to even think about that! So let me show you how close we came to getting into drier, better feel air.

Look at those 50 & 60 degree dew points !  Alas, that front won't reach us.  With no tropical threat coming, our next higher rain chance comes from an upper disturbance to our NW.

As the temperature map shows, there is no cold air behind that front.  Any cooling relief for us will come from some spotty daytime heating storms.

Even though we're running slightly above normal/average, this is NOT like the record heat of last summer...YET.  Models bring the upper heat dome back over us for next week, blocking any tropical activity from the northern Gulf, but maybe allowing highs to flirt with 100.

Finally, many of you have told me you miss my storytelling, especially during the Hurricane season. My sons & I have discussed starting a "podcast" & publishing a program at least once a week with multiple daily updates during the hurricane season.  They created this poll to check the feasibility & demand to take on this project.  We would make this available as a paid subscription podcast to offset the costs of producing & hosting the podcast free of any advertising.  If you are or are not interested, take the poll here:

I completely understand if you chose not to click on a link.  My sons assure me it's safe.  Results to come in future posts.    Stay tuned!
