Rainy Night Coming, Dexter Unlikely , Too Much Shear

We all know the computer models have become way better during the last 10-20 years.  They do very well when we have a well-defined & strong system, not so well with ill-defined weak disturbances.  INVEST 93 L is the latter.  Hey, the northern and eastern Gulf remains very disturbed with numerous T-Storms.  However, I only see one weak rotation, and it's not with 93L.

Their (NHC) computer models are still being run based on 93L's earlier location.  But all I'm seeing are clusters of disorganized storms with no rotation..  So don't believe those spaghetti plots.  No model picks up on the swirl over the SE Gulf. Why?  Too much wind shear.

With that much upper shear, I don't see how any surface system can get going.  What we will have are these clusters of strong storms moving westward for the next 1-2 days.  Models are indicating the heaviest rains will be south of NOLA.  Let's hope so since some spots could get 5-8"+.

Let's everybody pay attention tonight, especially those farther to the south. Look at what's on our doorstep.

These storms currently have lots of vivid lightning, but I'm hoping they weaken with the loss of daytime heating.  Check with Bruce Katz and the entire FOX 8 Team of experienced meteorologists for the latest tonight and tomorrow.  NOBODY has more news & weather than FOX 8. Trust us!

Remember, 90% chance of rain has nothing to do with time.  There will be many dry hours tomorrow & Friday.  Let's hope all this is gone for next weekend's Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo.

Remember to register at tarponrodeo.org, where I could announce your name next Saturday (July 26) as the Grand Prize winner of $10,000.  You can live anywhere (Alaska) and register ($55) to have a chance to win.  I would love to have you come down to the Island as we have a great lineup of local bands along with great food & drinks.  It's a 3-day party, Gang!  Weather-wise, pay attention tonight.  Stay tuned!
